I have to say a few things about Israel and Gaza.

A lot of people are asking me about it.

It's not an easy situation to talk about.

Tempers are flared and raw on both sides.

When I mention this on the air on my radio show,

I get a deluge of almost exclusively pro-Palestinian text messages and calls,

saying terrorists are not born, they're made.

The Palestinians have been put in an impossible situation.

And to some extent that's true.

My initial overarching instinct is that it's always been untenable to expect millions of people to live in squalid open-air refugee camps or prisons in perpetuity

with no sense of hope, no possibility of nationhood.

It's an intolerable situation that Israel finds itself in, and it is incumbent on the people who hold all the chips,

who have the power, who have the might, who have the luxurious lives of living in a Western

liberal democracy that, to be fair, they have created. It is incumbent on them to find a solution, to find a way out of this morass.

It's just not good enough for the Israeli right to keep saying, we have more partner in peace, what can we do?

You have to do something.

You have to have done something.

There was a time when something was being done.

I mean, let's just roll the clock back a bit.

We don't have to go into the 1967 war when Egypt was ready to pounce and was amassing its military.

This was a time when Israel did not control the West Bank or the Gaza Strip.

The West Bank was part of Jordan.
