Summary
This episode is going out to you if you've been feeling lonely, isolated, or disconnected lately. Being human can feel like a lonely experience sometimes, especially if we forget that we're an integral part of this Universe - and that everything is interconnected.
I share my own recent struggles with loneliness and talk about:
- the difficulty of making friends as an adult
- how you can be surrounded by people and still feel lonely
- how moving, changing schools, changing careers, working from home, and other circumstances can make you feel more isolated
- how technology has made our lives more convenient but also separated us from each other
- being ok with feelings of loneliness as part of the human experience (and as something that unites us!)

| 0:19.7 | Thank you so much for helping me create this content |
| 0:22.6 | and keep inner work free of ads. This is a bonus episode that I felt really compelled to |
| 0:32.5 | create for you this week. So I'm going to be vulnerable and real with you and share that the inspiration |
| 0:41.0 | for this episode came out of my own feeling of loneliness. So for whatever reason, lately I have |
| 0:49.3 | been carrying with me and feeling this deep sense of loneliness, even isolation, you could say. |
| 0:58.1 | And I've been trying to explore gently without trying to fix anything, just explore where |
| 1:04.6 | this really comes from. |
| 1:07.4 | Part of it, I think, is that I work for myself from home, which is absolutely an amazing thing, a huge privilege, really a blessing that I'm able to do that. |
| 1:22.1 | And at the same time, it can be isolating because I don't have a community of people, you know, at work, at the office, |
| 1:31.5 | at a place that I go to every day. The way that I did, for instance, back when I taught college |
| 1:38.9 | and was existing in that academic setting, which had a built-in community. |
| 1:46.8 | So working from home and working for myself can be isolating, not to mention that I am |
| 1:55.2 | recovering right now from COVID. Maybe you can hear that in my voice. So I got COVID for the first time this year in |
| 2:03.7 | 23. And I've been isolating for that reason until I'm not contagious anymore. So having to stay |
| 2:13.8 | away from the world, having to stay away from people, and go back into this kind of |
| 2:19.7 | quarantine state has added another layer of feeling lonely, of feeling separate, of feeling |
| 2:27.8 | disconnected, even though I know, of course, it is temporary. And I also think that this issue of feeling lonely or feeling disconnected is not just necessarily |
| 2:42.5 | a COVID thing or a pandemic thing or even just a work from home kind of thing. |
| 2:50.4 | I think it is in many ways a predominant challenge in our |
| 2:55.3 | modern world, really a main theme of our modern world, which has brought us so much closer |
