Hello and welcome to this very special edition of the UK True Crime Podcast. I'm Adam.

Firstly, a very happy Christmas. Secondly, today's episode is a little

different. There's no single case today. Instead, I'm answering your questions about the podcast,

true crime, about how these stories are researched and told. You know, it's been over nine years now

and almost 80 million listens to this podcast, which is

amazing. So I thought I would share some of the things I've learned and I haven't learned

along the way. But first, let me just say that true crime and the stories I cover can be

uncomfortable, and that is absolutely right. It should be. These aren't mysteries that I talk about

every week. They're real lives, it's real harm, it's real consequences. The stories I tell often

cover the very worst days of people's lives, and I never forget this ever. So today's

answers, like my podcast, it won't be flippant, it won't be sensational, it'll just be

honest answers, so I just say exactly how I see it. I'm always asked, tell me about your interest

in true crime and I can narrow it down to exactly the day it happened. So I was at university

in Wales, one of my good friends at university was a guy called Nick Lynch, who was a year older

than me. He left

before me when I was in the final year. He came to my house on the February and I'd have been

well and he said, look, I'm off to South America travelling, super excited about it all. Then we

agreed to meet up in Burnham in Essex in the summer in August for Burnham we can sail together and then

potentially go off to do some other sailing elsewhere that year. But Nick never came home. He was

killed in Brazil in Manouse in North Brazil. So what happened to him and his friends? They'd been
