Summary

Hey y’all! This is new for me, a recap of a personal adventure.

Although this trip was NOTHING compared to what some of our guests have done, it was a fun micro-adventure that got way more press and attention than I thought it would.

My good friend, Jordon, and I set out on New Year's Eve to be the first people (we know of) to paddle across the largest lake in Florida, Lake Okeechobee. The route was a straight shot from North to South for 35 miles, taking just under 12 hours.

Also, if you don’t have months off work and life to do something fun, take it from me, 11.5 hours is plenty of time to get all the same fulfillment and soul-filling adventure!

Thank you to Bluefin SUP for helping sponsor the trip! Check out their very high-quality paddlebaords at a great price at: https://bluefinsupboards.us/

0:23.0

It's not a big adventure by any means, but it created quite a stir around here in central Florida.

And it got picked up by like a dozen news outlets and papers.

0:35.2

It was on the front page of newspapers.

0:37.2

It was on television. It was on the front page of newspapers. It was on television. It was

picked up on tons of lists and podcasts. And it's still coming in, the amount of impact that's

0:48.5

had. And kind of honestly blew me away. And I'm know, figure out what's so different about it and

0:55.4

why it's unique. But I wanted to talk a little bit about what it is as well as why I did it and

1:02.2

why I think the impact has been there. So put a little context. I'm talking to you after

1:08.6

full day of work and taking care of the kids.

It's currently 12.04 a.m.

I'm going to publish it anyway.

And, you know, when you host a show about podcasting, one of the misconceptions is, oh, sorry, not a show about podcasting. When you host a show about adventure, a podcast about adventure, one of the misconceptions is you're always getting out there doing this stuff too.

1:41.5

We talked to guests on this show that are just astonishingly,
