Hi everyone. John Moe here. I want to give you a bonus episode today in our Depression Mode feed.

It's from another podcast that I also work on, this one more of a consulting behind the scenes kind of thing.

It's a show called In This Family, and it's all about families and mental health.

And the story from this episode is one that I found very moving, very honest, very

surprising. I think it's going to be very surprising for a lot of people. And I think it really

meets the moment that we're living in. I've been trying to talk about what's been going on

here in Minnesota on depression mode in the last few weeks with the presence of ice,

the killings of Renee Good and Alex Preti, five-year-old Liam Ramos being taken and coming

back different massive disappearances. It's been happening here in Minnesota, but it's been

happening elsewhere too, and it's been happening for a while.

And these efforts haven't stopped.

I don't know when or if they will.

And the thinking and the policies behind this approach to law enforcement,

that hasn't stopped either.

That thinking is still there. I've tried to talk about the

mental health effects of all that but any of us can only offer stories from our

own perspective I'm a white guy and my life is different than that of people of

color my experiences with ice and what's going on here different than that of people of color. My experiences with ice and what's going on here

Minnesota's large among American population. Gha came to America at age five in 1980 in the aftermath of wars in Southeast Asia.

The interview is about what recent events feel like for a people, the Hmong, who fled horrors over 50 years ago.
