Hello and welcome to a bonus episode of To To the Sky Sports Boxing

Podcast I'm John deaden still in Paris but the Olympic boxing tournament is over so now is the

time to think about the future and particularly the future for Olympic boxing because we could have seen, well I suppose the last

bout of boxing and Olympic Games ever because as things stand

boxing is not on the program for the Los Angeles Olympics in

2028 that's because it doesn't have an international federation. I beat

by the previous one has been banned by the IOC and seeing their, well, let's call it a war of words, but that's to put it mildly,

seeing how to what degree those two organizations are at loggerheads over the last couple of weeks.

Well, we know either aren't coming back to Olympic boxing, so if the sport wants to stay in the games, the IOC needs to recognize a new

Federation. It basically needs to find an alternative and it needs to decide that it

still wants boxing as an Olympic sport and the first thing to think about

is how disastrous for the sport as a whole it would be if it no longer had that Olympic status and if it was no longer

part of, well what feels like the biggest show at earth.

At Royal and Garros we bumped into professional promoter Eddie Hearn and spoke to him about how

it impact boxing not only on the amateur seed which is the foundation of the sport but also at all

levels right up to the top of the professional game.
