I love taking three years of research into an esoteric area of science, talking with scientists,

reading journal papers, traveling to places where they're working in the field

and bringing back all those journals and notebooks and piling them up on the desk and

then sitting down and trying to take those bits of real solid accurate

factual information and make a beautiful interesting shape out of it.
