Summary

It’s been a while since we’ve recorded audio from a poster session. But, by golly, Rob decided to bust out his portable recorder and make nice with the students at the Thompson Center for Autism 2023 Conference. We love getting to hear about research in its early days from special education to autism treatment to neuroscience. We had so much fun, we didn’t even get to use all of our complimentary drink tickets! Plus, a familiar student voice from the past makes a return visit to the show.

Thanks to all of the amazing student presenters for taking time to so eloquently share their work and to the Thompson Center for having us back to their conference.

Hey, everybody. Welcome to a bonus episode from ADA Inside Track. We've been very fortunate that for many years now, our friends at the Thompson

0:23.7

Center for Autism have invited us to speak at their conference. And this year was another

0:29.4

excellent year. We had a great time there. You can hear a little bit more about it in our October

0:34.1

preview. We'll have our talk come out like we did last year probably sometime in

0:38.5

the summer, our talk on should behavior analysts or why behavior analysts should study school

0:44.2

refusal.

0:45.0

We'll have that out over the summer if you weren't able to see us live in person there.

0:49.6

But one of the things that we'll sometimes do, I don't think I did it the last year or two,

0:52.8

because it can be hard to time out and sometimes depending on where a flight gets in, it's hard to do. But we get to go

0:59.4

and see the student poster sessions and learn a little bit about some of the work that's going on

1:04.9

at the Thompson Center, at some of the local universities as well. And I was planning to do it this year because it had been a while and I really love

1:13.3

getting a chance to talk to people about their posters.

1:15.5

But we had a really great guest at our booth.

1:18.8

We usually have kind of a table where we can set up there.

1:21.0

A great guest who you will hear in the bonus episode who came over and said,

1:25.5

he just wanted to introduce himself and said, the last time he'd seen us,

1:29.5

he'd been able to do the poster session audio,

1:32.7

and he was only an undergraduate,

1:34.2

and it was such an exciting experience,

1:36.2

and he was jazzed to be back,

1:38.0

and now he's starting his doctoral work.

1:41.3

We were fortunate enough to get to speak to this person again. So you'll hear it in the audio.
