In their heyday, Vertigo brought us preacher, Why the Last Man and a bunch of Brian K. Vaughn books, Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, The Invisibles, Fables, which was one of my all-time favorites, as well as Neil Gaiman's

Sandman series.

And when you talk about sort of the history of comic books, Sandman is a watershed book.

It sort of made vertigo what it is, which is comics for adults, you know, not just superheroes.
