A few years ago, I was walking along a path

in the mountains of Japan.

Along to my right side, there was a forest of bamboo going up this side of a mountain. Up in front of me my wife was

walking. A little backpack.

And down to my left, there's a big drop

that went down, down, down the side of the mountain to the bottom of a valley and the valley was filled

with rice fields in old style wooden Japanese houses.

It's a very magical moment really.

It was almost a scene out of an old samurai movie or something, you know, the bamboo blowing in the wind,

shh, the little village way down below at the bottom of the mountain and just the two of us walking along

this path on the side of the mountain.

And as we walked, silently, I asked myself the question that I had been repeating for the past three weeks again and again and again each day as we walked.

And on this day, once again, I asked myself, what is my mission? What is my purpose?

It's a question I had been struggling with for several years.

And I had decided when we started this pilgrimage, this long walk, 30 days of hiking in the mountains in Japan.
