An important part of every brew day involves boiling the work, which has various effects on the beer from killing off spoilage microbes to isomerizing alpha acids from hops to impart bitterness.

Many believe that achieving a strong rolling boil is key to producing quality beer while some

brew on systems that don't have this ability. You're listening to the Brulosophy

Yeah, interestingly with the crew that we have, I think we have basically all of the different systems in use at one point or another.

I use a natural gas, you know, natural gas flame underneath a big kettle to do my boils.

I know a couple of the guys have E-Bru in a bag systems, all-electric.

Jason uses a grain father.

I know Greg for a while was using the Pico brew for a short stretch there.

So I think we have our basis covered to see all the different ways to boil Wirt.

Yeah.

Well, and all of those different methods are known for achieving different boil figures.

You know, I know with my, I'm also on natural gas currently and I'm looking into moving into

electric because of the upgrade to solar at my house recently.

But with my natural gas, man, I can get my work just rolling, you know.

And I've seen pictures of yours as well, Ray, it looks like you achieve a really strong boil.

Yeah, I can really rip with my K-A-4 burners on natural gas, but when my buddy borrows my kettle to do oversized batches with the same

burner on propane, he's even melted off my, my, the handle on my, my my

output valve so I think the same burner even on propane rips even

on it does I before I upgraded on propane rips even harder.

Oh, it does.
