published this episode. The Senate just voted to approve a compromise that would

end the government shutdown. It's a deal in which Democrats extracted some concessions and promises,

but it falls far, far short of their full demands, especially on health care, which was their signature

reason for holding out. The Sunday night drama came after we had already taped this discussion,

so I'll have lots more to say about the deal in the Senate and what happens next in the coming
