Summary

Did everyone watch Watch What Happens Live last week with all our friends from the past including Mr. Jonathan Antin. Well, Jonathan Antin steps back Behind The Rope. We pick up right where we left off during our last sit down. Jonathan explains how he got hired as one of the lead judges on Bravo’s Shear Genius after Blow Out had ended. We discuss host Camila Alves and prior host Jaclyn Smith. We also discuss one of Shear Genius' contestants, Tabatha Coffey. Jonathan gives us his opinion of Tabatha, discusses whether he thinks she should have won her season, lets us know if her tough as nails persona is an act or real, and finally answers the question of whether she deserved her own show. Speaking of Bravolebrites, we discuss Jackie Warner’s appearance on Blow Out, what went wrong and the status of their relationship today. We also discuss all the other celebrities who appeared on Blow Out such as loyal clients Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin (they had other reality shows in the mix with Jonathan also - we discuss), Kristen Bell, Kate Bosworth, and, last but not least, sister Robin Antin, founder of The Pussycat Dolls. Jonathan tells some fun stories about his other Celeb clients, Courtney Love, Ricky Martin, Brad Pitt, Steven Tyler, Leo DiCaprio, Gwyneth Paltrow and, way to bury the lead, Queen Madonna (Lourdes in Tow)! We discuss the pressures from Bravo for Jonathan to involve his family in the show and how Blow Out came to an end shortly after his lack of a desire to do so. Finally, Jonathan opens up about the early days of Bravo, the origins of WWHL, his relationship with Andy Cohen and what he thinks of how the network has evolved throughout the years. I don't really talk a lot about this, but Andy has that, what's his talk show called? Watch what happens.

1:05.8

So during Blowout, I went into Andy's office one day, we were having a meeting and I said, I was pitching him on some other ideas.

1:15.8

He wanted to know if I had any other ideas for spin off shows. I said, I think we should do a talk show. I think it would be great. Bravo doesn't have any talk shows. I think it would be great. We could have all the Bravo talent. We're getting more and more.

1:30.8

By then they had already launched the first housewives show, which I believe was Orange County. I was doing what they mean. What's the got her husband or boyfriend spayed or cute young blonde on Orange County Housewives?

1:52.8

Well, there was Vicki. No, remember she had the boyfriend kind of handsome. He was on a lot. His name was like, Slade.

2:02.8

Slade. So you were doing gratchets?

2:06.8

Gratchets and gratchets and gratchets. I'm sorry, Gratchet. I love you. And Slade, you know, you're my bro. I love you. I just spaced out for a second. Yeah, I did Gratchet and Slade for everything.

2:18.8

And, you know, where were we going with us? I was saying before you were talking about what would happen.

2:28.8

Oh, yeah. So I went into his office and I said, we can have all the housewives girls on. I said, I do a lot of celebrities. You know, I can get all them on and will be great. And he said to me, I, no, it's not.

2:44.8

We don't do talk shows on Bravo. It's not that kind of network.

2:50.8

Because I was pitching him like, you know, a daytime talk show, like a strip daytime talk show.

2:58.8

Yeah.

2:59.8

Strip daytime talk shows. And I was like, what do you mean you don't do? We can do anything we want. It's your network.

3:07.8

I mean, it doesn't have to be live. It can be live to take, you know, we don't do is like, you know, redundant, irrelevant or nonsense statement.

3:22.8

Like we can do anything you want. And I'll be a good host, you know, and I'll even do a little extra practicing and studying about hosting, you know.

3:33.8

But, and I said we could do it in the salon. While I'm doing our hair, we could do it anywhere, you know, like on a couch behind a desk, you know, real talk show.

3:44.8

However you want. And he said, just said, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

3:49.8

And everybody on my team thought it was a good idea. And he said, no, oh, next thing you know,

3:59.8

six months went by, all of a sudden, he announces this show, watch what happens. And not only does the announcer, but he puts himself in as the host, when by the way, there's

4:16.8

five million out of work hosts in the United States, right? Looking for a job. And, you know, he could have hired one of them as the host, which I probably wouldn't have felt as bad about, but the fact that he was like putting himself in as the star.
