Hello and welcome to a special edition of the Blood Red Podcast from the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool of course played Leeds United in the Premier League tonight and the

countdown to kickoff should well and truly be on, yet something else has slightly

overshadowed the build-up over the last few hours.

Liverpool and its owners, as you'll no doubt have heard by now, are among the clubs leading the way

in the pursuit of a European Super League.

It's a close shop, essentially, and it will will change football as we know it.

The move has been widely slammed by supporters and alongside me have got Ian Doyle and

Paul Gorse and possibly Joe Rimmer in a few minutes too as he makes his way onto the podcast to have a chat about what that means what it means for the sport for football more generally and of course for Liverpool and its owners FSG as well.

Doidy I'll come to you first. I think the first thing to say for me is that it almost

beggar's belief that this is happening. The major players in European football and a couple

of other clubs in there as well.

A.C. Milan, maybe not quite at the peak of their powers,

but they've made their move.

What was your gut reaction as it sort of became clear

what was happening yesterday? Well I'm old enough to have I could have just left it as I'm old then couldn't I I'm old enough to I'm old enough to have seen this kind of thing before so when it well I just heard it was like yeah
