Hello and welcome to the Retro Hour podcast episode number 134, your weekly dose of retro gaming

and technology news with me Dan Wood and me Ravi Abbott. And it's Play Expo London weekend. Oh, yes, we're going to the Capitol, and this is retro gaming in the Capitol. Finally, how long has it been? Oh, we've been prepping this for at least six months. Yeah, and I think we're still prepping it now, actually, and it starts tomorrow.

On the train on the way down. But this is going to be, I mean, we've done so many of these big retro gaming shows, but I'm beyond excited for this one. I think we're doing about, what, seven panels over the weekend? Yeah, it's going to be a busy one, but hopefully we'll be able to have a play when we finish. Yeah, I'm sure there'll be play time after. So maybe you're listening on the way to Play Expo this weekend.

So if you are new to the show, I mean, the way it works is, Ravi and I, we do the show every week, 134 episodes now. Every single Friday we're out. We've ever missed one of we? No, no, not yet. It's come close. I think we have a break at New Year's, but that's all right. Yeah, we're one week off a year.

But every week, I mean, the end of this show is really because the world of retro gaming is a lot more active than a lot of people realize who are outside of it. And because when we originally started, you know, doing this podcast, we had that discussion, how often should we do it? And at first, we're like, can we fill a show every week with retro gaming news? But since then. Yeah, now we're cutting news because so much stuff is coming out. And what we like to do is we like to talk about the news here, but we also love to get a guest on. And we love to kind of have it from the horse's mouth. Yeah. We get the stories directly from them. And this week's guest, I'm just astonished that we've got him on. Yeah, well, this is David Breivik. And yeah, he was basically the co-founder and president of Blizzard North and created the Diablo franchise, which, as you know, is probably one of the greatest games in history, as I'm told by a lot of people. And you're a big fan, weren't you? Oh, yeah, yeah. I loved it, but I also love the whole Warcraft series as well. And we all know how big that got. But David's currently got his own retro-style titles going on. So he's started his own company, now Greybeard Gaming, and he's gone back to designing, and he's kind of doing these cool retro indie titles,

so we're going to explore that more as well. And that is so interesting as well, the fact that a lot of the guests that we talk to, whose Korea kind of started in the 80s and 90s, and then they went on to other things. A lot of them are actually kind of getting back into retro now, aren't they? Yeah, totally. And also a lot of them are in similar circles. Like we're going to talk about some companies like Atari and stuff that are related to the birth of blizzard.

You wouldn't afford that, would you?
