Thinking about what led to the Iraq war and what it was like to cover that time as a journalist, I have all kinds of vivid memories,

but one particular moment sticks in my mind it happened on

question time the BBC's weekly political discussion show which I was chairing at

the time it was just after war broke out in 2003.

The panel was arguing about the rights and wrongs of the war

when suddenly a woman put her hand up in the front of the audience and I called on her.

I am Iraqi. I am Kurdish. A past 30 years I have seen so much tragic, no human being in this world ever witnesses first

does anyone ask us how do you feel gone I'm asking we want this work more than

anything on this planet. She was Iraqi.

She lived in Iraq under Saddam, a rare voice in the debate.

On the panel was the British journalist Yasmin alibi Brown

who responds to what the Iraqi woman is saying. There is absolutely no moral underpinning for this action

and what is worse the people not just of the

Arab states but across the world who used to trust Britain have turned so against us that we've now become the second most hated nation in the world

and I don't think we begin to understand the consequences of that.
