Blackie was quite a wise cat in her way. When she had been a little kitten in the country with her mother, her brothers, and her sisters, she had

And when she had been brought to the city, she learned some city things.

So you see, she had been educated, you might say, to country life and city life. But what am I going to do now? I don't know. Not Blackie. Here I am locked in a house that has no one in it.
