gray areas often cause dissension, anger, and even hate. But on this platform, I welcome open

dialogue, variety of opinion, and differing belief systems. God is gray is meant to teach,

inform, and simply trade stories with kindness, love, and mutual respect.

If you're a Christian and you've inherited all the good stuff from the gospel that we love,

the liberation, the love, the freedom, the grace, the fact that we get to be who we are,

all those groovy, wonderful things we love about Jesus, the transformative power of Christ, right?

You get to keep all that, but you don't get to get rid of all the shit, the defending slavery,

the oppression of women for thousands of years, the oppression of queer folks, the oppression

of our Jewish siblings.

He is a mission developer, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, Vancouver, Washington, and the author

of Dear Church, a love letter from a black preacher to the whitest denomination in the U.S.

I know you also have another book coming this summer called United States of Grace,

but I'm so honored to talk to you because I've been doing more and more of my research on you

leading up to this conversation, and you have been talking about the issues that are on the forefront of our minds right the second four years.
