Summary

Earlier this week Diana shared a YouTube video talking about how hard it is on our health to be lonely. Not just our emotional health (that's what we usually think of in regards to relationships) but our actual physical health suffers, too, when we're lonely. I know from some experience that this isn't always easy to overcome, but the Lord has been faithful to provide relationships when we've asked. (And we also talk about our upcoming birthday!) And Diana's video that we referenced can be found here: https://youtu.be/1YBbvczeEoI Blinkist Link: https://www.blinkist.com/theminimalmom use this link for 1 week to try it out free. Well, Diana, I was riveted by your YouTube video this past week. So talking about community.

0:07.5

Riveted. Is that? Yeah. And just the effects on our body when we're not connected with people.

0:13.8

Doesn't it make you just want to go call your grandma? Oh, yeah. I did feel guilty about several people in my life. So let's talk about that. We need

0:23.3

to touch base about our birthday because we have not talked about our birthday and that's coming

0:26.1

up too. We need to make plans for that. So we'll talk about that today. Welcome to the Minimum

It's always funny when Diana, I think you called me and you were like, wow, Blinkist is so

0:44.0

cool. And then you started telling me about the books that you were listening to on there,

0:48.7

which I can put my link down below for Blinkist, so you can try it out for free for seven days.

0:52.7

But I mean, do tell us what

0:54.9

were you finding on there? Yeah. Just for everybody who doesn't know, I mean, Blinkist is an app where

0:59.9

it gives you the highlights of books so you don't have to read the whole book. And I've just found

1:04.7

that's a fun way to either discover if you want to read the whole book or to just get the highlights.

1:10.1

Because one of the

1:10.8

books I listened to on there, it was super scientific and I was like, oh man, I'm so glad I did not

1:16.7

try to read this book, but it gave me the highlights. The other one was really good and I think

1:21.0

I would take time to listen to the whole thing. But yeah, Don, I was listening to a couple of books

1:25.7

on community, but specifically like the science behind how our brains are hardwired to connect.

1:34.1

And I did do a video about it this last week, but I think it's worth unpacking a little bit more because I kind of, after I got done, I kind of realized I kind of brushed over the statistic.

1:43.7

But it is more detrimental to your health to be lonely than it is to be obese or smoke 15 cigarettes per day.

1:53.5

Yeah, which are the typical things that we worry about, right?

1:56.4

Or that we would condemn ourselves about if we were having bad habits, right?
