I'm going to revisit a topic that I've done separate episodes on and tried to combine these together because I've had a lot of people reach out recently and basically

talking about bipolar disorder versus borderline personality disorder, very similar symptoms,

but completely different stories, development, and trajectories.

And this is something that I encounter very regularly doing

neuropsychological evaluations, is that this one, both, or the other. So if you've worked

in mental health long enough, or you've been involved in the mental health system,

you start to see system, um,

you start to see something,

again,

as a diagnostician,

it could be kind of disturbing.

The two people walk into two different offices,

uh,

they describe the same symptoms and they leave with completely different

diagnoses.

And sometimes neither is right.

And in my opinion, I think bipolar disorder and borderline personality are the most misdiagnosed,

self-diagnosed, underdiagnose, and misunderstood conditions in psychiatry.

And there's a cost to getting the wrong, I think the cost could be really detrimental.

And, you know, Julie's always referred to as bipolarity is just pure neurotransmission. But when, you know, the cost of getting

these diagnoses wrong is years on medications that, that never really work, therapy, that can
