Today on Forbes, billionaire Gotam Adani earmarks $100 billion to develop AI data centers across India.

Adani group, controlled by Ports to Energy billionaire Gotam Adani,

plans to spend $100 billion to develop data centers across India by 2035

amid an AI boom in the world's most populous country.

According to a statement released Tuesday,

the group said it plans to invest in additional $150 billion

to manufacture servers, electrical

infrastructure components, cloud computing platforms, and develop supporting industries over the next

decade. In the statement, Gotam Adani, chairman of the Adani group, said, quote,

we're building on our foundation in data centers and green energy

to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack

focused on India's technological sovereignty.

India will not be a mere consumer in the AI age.

We will be the creators, the builders, and the exporters of intelligence,

and we are proud to be able to participate in that future.

Adani Connects, a joint venture between Adani Group and U.S.-based data center operator, Edge

Connects, plans to develop a 2 gigawatt of data center capacity, which could be expanded to 5 gigawatts.

In partnership with Google, Adani Group is also investing $15 billion to develop a gigawatt-scale

AI Data Center campus in Visacapotnam in the southeastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The group is also working with Microsoft on projects in Hyderabad
