So you all know by now, I'm sure, that Bill Belichick, the eight-time Super Bowl winning coach,

coached in 44 playoff games. Believe it or not, Andy Reed has now coached in more

playoff games than Belichick. I always get into these deep dives on coaching records and

playoff records, etc.

Belichick has the most wins at 31 and obviously the most Super Bowl wins with six in nine appearances as a head coach.

I mean, six Super Bowls, nine Super Bowls total, six Super Bowl wins.

But Belichick's career playoff win percentage is 705.

Now, you know, Lombardy's is the best of all time, but he only coached in 10 playoff games.

Why?

Well, he had a shorter career as a head coach, number one. Number two, is you played basically one game and then the NFL championship game. You know, there wasn't the expanded playoff format. But yeah, Bill Belichick's, you know, overall game count of being in the playoffs, 44 to 40, one short of

Andy Reed, but he's got 31 wins and a 705 win percentage in the postseason.

Bill Belichick's regular season win total is still behind Hallis and Shula. I mean, he theoretically could catch

both of them if he came back to coach in pro football. And I heard some suggestions this

morning that that's why some people voted no. If you don't know the details, Belichick fell short of the 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame during this first year of eligibility for him.

Sources in the Don Van Nata, Seth Wickersham story, ESPN.com, with firsthand knowledge of the

outcome, said that Belichick received a call from the Hall of Fame and was given the news,

which is unusual, I guess.
