So I've danced around today's topic since, well, since I started doing these weekly

episodes. I say danced around because I've discussed the subject tangentially in one of the Arizona episodes earlier this summer and more recently in one of the Olympic episodes

But the reason I'm inspired to take a deeper dive today is thanks to my 12 year old niece and her fascination with

Bigfoot. She's a believer, she's a researcher, and she's incredibly confident that she's going

to be the one to prove the existence of this elusive creature that thus far has existed only in grainy videos, photographs of dubious provenance, and mostly in our imaginations.

My older brother happens to be a wonderful father who is incredibly supportive of his daughter's

intellectual pursuits and very recently they completed a cross-country drive that began on the East Coast and

ended at their home near the beach in Los Angeles.

My niece, however, asked if they could please make a stop in the vast forests of the Pacific Northwest to

snoop around what's always been a hotspot of Bigfoot activity. Now in case you

don't have a map in front of you, the region we know is the Pacific Northwest,

the states of Washington, Oregon, Western Idaho, it's not exactly on the way from New Jersey

to Southern California.

It's actually a massive detour that adds almost 1,000 miles

onto the trip.

But for a Bigfoot hunter, totally worth it.
