Welcome to One Minute Scripter Study, a Come Follow Me podcast.

We are your host, Kristen Walker-Smith and Callie Black.

Hello, welcome to Big Picture Monday. My name is Callie Black here with all the context you need to totally rock this week's Come Follow Me readings.

0:16.0

This week is January 12th through the 18th, and we are studying Genesis chapters 1 and 2, Moses,

0:24.5

chapters 2 and 3, and Abraham, chapters 4 and 5. And if those readings kind of sound

0:31.7

confusing or jumbled, don't worry, the story is actually super simple this week, because this

0:36.4

week is Creation Week. I'm so excited. We get to study three different accounts of the creation

0:44.3

of the world. They're obviously very similar to each other, but there are some

in Abraham. So I want to talk about kind of the distinctions there between these three

1:04.5

different versions. Before I do that, though, I want to just acknowledge that we are starting the Old

1:09.2

Testament this week. Welcome with Genesis

1:12.5

chapters 1 and 2. We are officially in the Old Testament. We talked about in the intro week that the

1:18.6

Old Testament can be divided into four sections. We've got the law, we've got the history,

1:24.8

we've got the poetry, and then we've got the prophets. So with the book of Genesis,

1:29.2

we're starting this first section of the law, also sometimes called the books of Moses,

1:37.0

not to be confused with the book of Moses that we have from modern revelation. But Genesis,

1:41.5

Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, these first five books of the Old

1:45.2

Testament are the law.

1:47.6

We do generally attribute Moses as their author.

1:54.1

The books of Exodus through Deuteronomy, so books two through five, took place during Moses'

1:59.4

life.
