We'd like to get right into it and what we're going to get into today is the Republican

2024 field.

How is the size of the field going to affect the content and the events of the race?

That's been a huge, huge topic of discussion among Republicans in the not-too-distant past

in now.

And it's something that I think maybe some Republicans are worrying about and they shouldn't

be worried about.

So big field, little field, how does it affect things?

So the talk among Republicans has been about the effect that a big primary field might

have on the 2024 nomination race, okay?

The short version of their concern is that a big field would benefit the former president,

Donald Trump, who in 2016 benefited from a big field.

You know, in the early primaries he never won some big majority of the votes.

He just won with a plurality in large multi-candidate fields in the early states.

So they think, well, you know, he wasn't required to get 50% or 52% or 55% of the Republican

vote in those early contests.

So the idea is that a big field in 2024 would benefit Trump because just as in 2016, he

wouldn't have to win a majority of the votes.

He could get a plurality, maybe not even a really big plurality and be enough.

On the other hand, the thought is that a small field, especially if it could just be one

on one, just Trump versus let's just guess Ron DeSantis, that might allow the challenger
