As we flip the calendar to July, an era comes to an end. The Big 12 says goodbye to Oklahoma and Texas.

Of course, Oklahoma, part of the old Big 8 days, Texas entering this league after the Southwest

Conference fell apart. But for many of us as Big 12 fans, this has been three years in the making.

And we should look at this as simply a chance to move on and breathe a massive sigh of relief.

That's what this needs to be about. Now, if you're wondering why you would breathe a sigh of relief,

well, the Big 12 is standing. And the Big 12 is poised to be the third of the power conferences

for the foreseeable future without Oklahoma and Texas. And as we sat here nearly three years ago,

I didn't know if this conference was going to exist.

And we're three years after the fact.

We have, I believe, the best commissioner in college football.

We have a growing brand.

We have a brand that is remaking college sports in large part, taking risks, taking chances, being innovative.

And there's very likely more to come in the Big 12 story. I'm Pete Mundo. We're Heartlandcollege
