because this is the question we get asked, I get asked time and time again. What makes sense for

the Big 12? Does the Big 12 back the Big 10 who wants a 24-team college football playoff?

Or does the Big 12 back the SEC who wants a 16-team college football playoff?

The Big 12 should be all in on what the Big 10 wants.

And that is a 24-team college football playoff.

What the Big 12 desperately needs right now above all else is access.

We saw it this year.

The Big 12 didn't have a chance of getting two teams into the playoff.

BYU was never in the conversation.

It was all about Notre Dame or Miami.

Now, Miami made a run to the national championship,

so obviously they proved themselves.

But the fact that BYU, who had just two losses to Texas Tech,

found itself on the outside looking in,

and never really a part of the conversation

tells you all you need to know about how this thing's going to play out for the Big 12.

So the Big 12 should be all in on just getting as many teams in as possible.

And then what the Big 12 needs to do is prove itself in the college football playoff.

That's what the Big 12 has to do. They've got to start winning some of these games. They're one in seven in college football playoff games as a conference. Texas Tech got crushed by Oregon. That was a bad look for the league. There's no doubt about it. So now you take a step back and you say, okay, what's going on here is you've got

the SEC favoring a 16 team playoff. Right now, of course, we're at 12. The Big 10 wants a 24 team
