Hello from Washington, I'm Chuck Todd, so as you know our new NBC News poll over

the weekend showed yet another sign of tightening

the tightening race of the White House if you will and if you're a supporter of

President Biden were comforted to see him Norway at President Trump's early lead in the

head-to-head polling and that is

approval rating is moving up, not down in an election here. You're going to hear

this later in this podcast but it's in it trajectory matters for sitting

presidents even though the Biden number is low the fact that it's it's moving north

and not south in this period of time is a big deal.

so other numbers go south in their election.

You're not north.

You know with President Trump.

So this is why it's a, even though it's small, even though the raw numbers low, it is not insignificant to see that kind of movement.

That said, there's still plenty of signs of weakness for Democrats and Biden specifically in our latest numbers.

Voters overall continue to give the president poor marks on issues that they say

will determine their vote most notably on the economy.

And I want to get at this economy question here because it really is about cost.

And my guest that I'm going to have here is Doug Sosnick.

He's a long-time senior Democratic advisor for many Democratic campaigns back in the day,

the most notably Bill Clinton in his re-elect.

But he's become a vault of interesting information.
