from WNYC studios. I'm Brian Lehrer. This is my daily politics podcast. It's Thursday,

0:11.9

February 8th. The Biden administration paused a decision on whether or not to approve what would be

0:19.6

the largest natural gas export terminal

0:22.6

in the United States. Instead, it has directed the Energy Department to evaluate the project's

0:28.8

impact on climate change. First, the proposed terminal called Kalkashu Pass 2, or CP2, is being

0:37.0

planned for the Louisiana coastline. If approved, it would

0:40.8

proposed terminals which might face the same fate. So this policy decision, one way or another,

1:20.3

1:25.8

liquid natural gas exporter in the world.

1:29.1

Climate activists are lauding the Biden administration's new position as victory.

1:34.3

Others see it as Biden's way to appease climate activists while not really changing that

1:41.3

much.

1:41.6

But joining us now to break down the Biden administration's pause on natural gas export at CP2,

1:48.4

as well as the environmental, political, and economic implications,

1:52.7

is Robinson Meyer, founding executive director of HeatMap,

1:56.9

a relatively new climate-focused media company.
