this seemingly never-ending standoff within the Democratic Party that's going to that is going to be the main topic of our

conversation today and as always we're recording this a little afternoon on Wednesday, July the 10th. But before we do that, I want to briefly talk about and thank everybody for a small event we had last night in Manhattan, obviously where the main office of

TPM is located.

We had a small TPM Happy Hour.

We did a bar takeover at a bar in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan.

We had a hundred members there and it was great. I had a great time. I didn't have a fantastic time this morning but I

had a great time last night and I want to thank everybody who came out you know I

had I think either most or all of our New York staff was there.

As you know, a subset of our team, including Kate, is based in DC, so they weren't there. and with members, one who was, I believe, an academic who lives right outside of Philadelphia,

another who I had revisited a topic that I have always been very interested in, which is the sort of

a text critical revisionist study of the origins of Islam that is something that has been

very interesting and fertile in the last 20 years found someone else who was

interested in that admittedly relatively obscure topic and we talked about that and

met up with another reader who I met on the Hudson River Park I think exactly 20 years ago and was a TPM reader and she

reminded me of that and I definitely remembered that moment and a bunch of other readers, actually one other reader and I you know I
