we talked a lot about our deep confusion as to what Joe Biden had done on Thursday when he had

announced with great fanfare the bipartisan deal on infrastructure. And then two hours later said

that he was going to veto the very deal that he had just announced with great fanfare unless

the larger reconciliation budget were passed also. Thus as Mark Halperin said in his

essential newsletter, maybe issuing the first veto threat for a bill that somebody supports

in the history of the presidency. And Matt texted me to say, what you had you said,

I was like, I don't understand what the hell you were confused in that I was confused. And you

had an explanation. And then let's see whether your explanation can be harmonized with the thing

that then happened over the weekend. Go ahead. So your explanation was also because of the state of

plan Friday, you were expressing your confusion. Why did Biden do this? What was his strategy?

And I was listening and I kept waiting to hear the name Bernie Sanders being mentioned. And I

think it was mentioned once in an somewhat unrelated context. But my view is is that everyone has

been focusing on mansion and cinema for good reason about the passage of this bill. What they're

ignoring is the brewing revolt on the left. And you saw that percolating the other week when

Sanders in one of his charming moments that we are also familiar with said, I'm tired of talking
