We take a close look at movies and television and examine their themes, craft and relationships

to our times.

And what times these are?

You may have noticed that Gita has been absent from the podcast the last few episodes.

Well she came down with COVID-19 and much to all of our relief.

Seems to have got an fairly manageable case and it sounds like she's going back next week.

But we've all been stuck in varying degrees of isolation attempting to do our part to prevent

the further spread of a disease that has killed thousands and devastated both the global

and local economies of our respective communities.

It's a frankly frightening and uncertain time and our thoughts are as always with those

suffering and laboring amidst this crisis.

A curious feature of this crisis however is that it's proven to be a weirdly prime opportunity

to catch up on TV and movies where I'll stuck at home.

I get out once a day to walk the dog at around four in the morning and it is a surreal

and bizarre experience every day.

And lately there's been one movie that I think a number of us at various points have been

very keen to discuss.

Autumn DeWild's new adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma starring Anya Taylor-Joy who was the

lead in two of the Shama Long films we discussed during the Be Good and Rewatch at Era, Split

and Glass.
