Perhaps the one question that most Christians have asked at some point in their life for another,

or perhaps some of you are asking it now, what is the will of God for my life?

How can I discern the will of God for me?

And that question become intensified at certain times in life

when there are changes that are happening, where a change in job and a profession, or one is

looking for a spouse or for wanting to know which college to go to, or just to know what my career path is. And the question

is natural and is legitimate. But I noticed through the years that some people really trivialize

the will of God. I mean, it goes all the way down to buying a certain pair of shoes or, you know, going on a diet.

And I thought of the man who, many years ago, was announced to his colleagues at work that he is going on a diet.

He's going to lose weight.

And a week later, he walks into the office with triple triple-decker, donut double glazed, you

know, one of those gooey things that you see, and I mean, just absolutely, probably got 2,000

calories just if you look at it.

And to the shock and the horror of his colleagues, and they said, well, what's happening?

He said, well, I'm eating this thing

by the will of God. He said, I was driving by my favorite donut store where they sold this

specialized thing, and I love it. This is my favorite. So I prayed. I said, Lord, if it is your

will for me to have one of these, please allow a parking space right in front of the shop.

And he said, sure enough, after 15 times around the block, there was a parking space, right in front of the shop.

Not only there are those who trivialize the will of God, there are some who actually go about it the wrong way.

There are some who say, when I'm not sure, I just take my Bible and I open it, and whatever my eyes fall on the text, that is the answer that I'm looking for.
