Well, it's an outright lie that the blame lies right at the feet of the teachers union and all of its allies.

We knew last spring that it was safe for kids to be back in school.

They were going back to school all around the world safely.

And that's what we called for. That's what we

encouraged. That's what we urged. And here we are nearly a year later. And kids have fallen farther and

farther behind as a result. It's a tragedy. Yeah. In fact, here you are on July 12th, 2020 on

State of the Union. Kids need to be back in school and that school leaders across the country

need to be making plans to do just that. There's going to be the exception to the rule,

but the rule should be that kids go back to school this fall. And where there are little flare-ups or hotspots,

that can be dealt with on a school-by-school or a case-by-case basis.

So why didn't that happen? And specifically, what was the role of the unions in that?

It didn't happen very simply because of politics. The union saw an opportunity to impact the election.
