Disloyalty, treason, betrayal.

Call it whatever you wish, but when trust is broken between two partners,

it's nearly impossible to recover. Today, on Insight for Living,

Chuck Swindall invites us to follow one of the most egregious

betrayals in history. During a season of growing popularity among the masses,

Jesus was in the crosshairs of religious leaders and politicians.

Behind the scenes they conspired to silence him forever.

But it was the betrayal by Jesus' friend that shocks us the most.

Chuck sets the stage by reading from Matthew Chapter 10.

I want to talk today in a few moments about one of the greatest enigmas in all of history.

And I'm referring to the man who became the traitor, Judas.

Interestingly, no one today would ever name his son Judas because of the events that transpired in the erosion of his character.

We're going to think about that today and it's a serious message for all of us to ponder and I'm reminded when I come to places like Matthew 10 where I'd like to read from to begin with.

Let him who thinks he stands, take heed lest he fall.

This isn't about picking at a man named Judas.

It's about learning from what happened, knowing that it can happen, and in fact, is still happening as erosion occurs in the lives of individuals who allow this kind of thing to take place.

Now, Matthew Chapter 10, may I read for you the first four verses, and then we'll go to Matthew 26 as we observe the contrast.

Matthew 10-1 and having summoned his 12 disciples he gave them authority over unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.

Now the names of the 12 apostles. every kind of sickness.

Now the names of the Twelve Apostles are these.

The first Simon, who is called Peter,
