| 0:00.0 | What is so cool about this podcast is we get to come here and celebrate the pop culture we love. |
| 0:16.9 | But listeners, what's even cooler than that is when we get to contribute to the pop culture that we love so much. |
| 0:23.5 | And that is what we are here to do today because our co-host, Jason Inman, has a pretty exciting thing that's just happened. |
| 0:31.2 | But before we get into it, let's start by saying, hello and welcome to geek history lesson. |
| 0:35.6 | I am Ashley Victoria Robinson. |
| 0:37.2 | And I am Jason Inman. |
| 0:38.5 | Welcome to the Mine University, the podcast where one comic book writer from Canada and one TV writer from Kansas talk about everything in pop culture. |
| 0:48.0 | And today we're going to talk about television. |
| 0:50.6 | So first off, what's TV? |
| 0:52.5 | Please explain, Ashley. |
| 0:53.2 | So there's this box and a bunch of little people live inside the box. And there's rabbit ears on the top. And there's rabbit ears on the top. There's a rabbit on the top. And there's a rabbit on the top. And there's tinfoil involved, I think. Around the rabbit's ears. And the rabbit with the tinfoil ears tells the little people who live inside the box what they want to see today. And somebody named Lucille Ball has something to do with this as well, I think. Yes. And sometimes Captain Kirk shows up. He's a very famous one of the little people who lives inside the box. That joke, friends, is because when I was a little person myself, that's how I thought TV worked. Well, you know, it's funny because we're talking about television, a medium that is near and dear to both of our hearts, a medium that I work in. And it is funny because I don't know of many people that besides, you know, let's say anybody under the age of 40 remembers when televisions were these big, giant heavy blocks with rabid ears. That would just sit. They literally were a thing. I mean, my grandparents, I'll tell you a funny story, had one of these, you know, giant tube television. And I believe it was only like a 25 inch or a 30 inch. And so, like by our standards, a very small TV. But it was built into this giant heavy wooden cabinet. And it was so heavy that when the TV broke, everybody in my family just said, |
| 2:02.4 | F it. Leave it where it is. We're not moving that damn thing. I think if you are a person of a |
| 2:08.3 | certain age, a crisp 21 years old, everyone has someone in their life, whether that's a family |
| 2:14.0 | or a relative. My best friend in high school, Kristen, her family had one of those TVs that was built in. |
| 2:20.1 | So anyway, if you don't understand these references, you have a little bit of homework to do. |
| 2:23.7 | Google, like, I guess, transistor. |
| 2:26.1 | Tube TV. |
| 2:27.1 | Anyways. |
| 2:27.9 | It'll come up. |
| 2:28.4 | But Jason, you as someone who works in television, have recently taken over the television, the CBS channel, now streamable on Paramount Plus. Tell us about what's your latest foray with Watson. |
| 2:42.3 | Look, if you listen to this podcast or this is your first episode, hello, welcome. You know, I'm a TV writer. I work on this show called Watson, which is in its second season, airs on CBS and also on Paramount Plus. Yes, it's the hot doctor show. And it's a hot |
| 2:56.4 | doctor show starring the beautiful Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson from Sherlock Holmes |
