Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the Epic Gardening podcast. Hope you're doing well. Hope

0:16.7

your fall or winter is doing well and maybe you're still gardening, maybe you're not. Either

0:21.1

way, a good episode today to think about the 2022 season, especially if you were a recent

0:27.5

beginner in the gardening world. So Jordan is back on the podcast from Mind and Soil. Jordan,

0:33.4

you know, you started gardening and sounds like about 2013 or so, right? Yeah, that's right. And

0:38.1

then I'd say like really started getting into it with my own space 2016. Yeah, interesting

0:43.8

how similar those stories map because I, you know, I left my job in 2016 to go full-time

0:48.9

in Epic Gardening. So it's kind of an interesting like trajectory we both have here. But, you know,

0:54.2

0:59.9

gardening because it's just so hard to know everything and learn everything. And, you know, I do

1:05.0

have some seasons under my belt. You have some seasons under your belt. I'm curious if you have

1:08.1

any tips for beginners that you wish you knew at the start. Yeah, totally. So, you know, when I go

1:13.8

back to that first season and I literally, I remember I got one tomato off of my vine and it

1:21.7

tasted so bad. Like I didn't feed the soil anything. It just like it tasted so papery. So the

1:29.7

kind of takeaway or learning from me on that front was like to start really small and to not be

1:35.7

focused on the harvest or the yield. And I think that, you know, like we see a lot of these huge

1:40.4

big bounties on Instagram and YouTube, etc. And like that's after like five, six seasons worth

1:46.5

of gardening. And so in those, you know, very first years really focus on enjoying the process of

1:54.0

getting the hands dirty, being off of technology disconnected from all that. Just less like kind of

1:59.9

nervous system being lit up by all these notifications and whatnot and something more simple.

2:05.0

And then over time that bounty, that harvest is going to increase.

2:08.3

Yeah, I would say it's difficult even today for me to do that because I do love technology and I do
