It's the media buzz meter with Howard Kurtz.

We seem to be stuck in an endless cycle of retribution.

So let's dive right in and a lot to get to this Monday.

Look at it this way.

After the 2020 election, Donald Trump was the target of all these investigations.

There was this crappy, flimsy, partisan charge from Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg,

who somehow turned the Stormy Daniel payments into a felony when it would have been a misdemeanor and got a conviction.

And there was Jack Smith.

And remember, he was appointed by Merrick Garland, Biden's Attorney General.

And he had two investigations going.

One about classified documents, which might have been the simplest case to bring,

and the other related to all the allegations surrounding January 6th.

And then in Fulton County, Georgia, the DA Fannie Willis investigated the famous phone call

by Trump to Brad Raffernsperger.

I just want to find 11,780 votes.

And then on top of that, Letitia James, the New York AG, filed a civil suit about inflated property values

that led to a fine that had since grown to half a billion dollars, a penalty so outrageous

that an appeals court just threw it out on the grounds of cruel and unusual punishment.

And what was the mindset at that time, certainly in the media?

It was that, well, Donald Trump did a lot of bad things. And if he could be successfully prosecuted

before the 2024 election, he could be knocked out of the race. So from Trump's point of view,

these were bogus cases brought by biased prosecutors.
