Now, according to Chris Sims from Football Night in America and pro football talk,

Dak Prescott is willing to accept a five-year deal with the Cowboys,

but he's asking for $45 million in the final year.

And that's because he really wants a short-term deal,

but if you want to lock him in long-term,

he knows contracts will go up and he wants to be paid like one of the highest-paid players

late in his career. The question with that fifth year is we'll be guaranteed. If it's

guaranteed, then it has to be worth less money for the Cowboys and more money if you're

Dak Prescott. And look, everybody knows at this point you're just trying to ride out

negotiations until July 15th. Deadlines bring deals. July 15th is the deadline for the franchise

tag to be removed in a long-term contract to be made. Timing has been working for

Dak Prescott for a long time because everyone assumes that Pat Mahomes is going to get a new deal.

Unfortunately, Pat Mahomes' new deal won't come to be until after July 15th.
