Nina Simone is among the new class of artists

who's going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

and thought it would be a good time to devote an episode to her life and music.

Her brother, Sam Weaman, is going to be joining us to talk about what it was like to live with her and work with her.

And in the meantime, we have in the studio David Brown,

Rolling Stone writer who has an article coming out about the sort of ongoing revival of

Nina Simone that's sort of been going on as we were saying before the show for at least 30 years and is probably never going to stop because she's you know she was a genius she was an artist who was basically a genre unto herself because she incorporated so many genres and created something that is so unique.

And it's interesting that she's being inducted into the rock and roll of fame because she certainly belongs there.

But it's interesting that it took this long for people

to think of her that way. What do you think is going on there, Devon?

Well, I think, like you say, I think the revival of her interest in her music has been going on for like a good

feel like 30 years you know

About 30 years ago a song was used in a commercial and that sort of got things rolling in the 90s.

We had her songs in a lot of movies like the Big Lebowski and probably nobody other
