Sometimes try to make it laugh.

Sometimes we try to make you get entertained by the most absurd stories that we can find in

the world of sports and beyond.

Other days I see a story.

I think it's being covered really poorly.

And in particular, I think it's how you decide in the debate whether or not you should

pay players or not.

Because that's a huge debate, right?

Every time a new coach gets a new salary in college athletics, people come out and they say,

oh, you got to pay football players and mince basketball players more money because they're

making all this money for the NCAA tournament.

They're making all this money off of the college football playoff.

They're making all this money off of whatever that situation may be.

The problem is nobody ever actually gets into the complexities here.

And a basic complexity is this title nine requires that all scholarship athletes at a university

be treated the exact same.

So if you are going to give, let's say, a football player, $40,000 a year on top of their scholarship

and their cost of living additions, then you would have to give $40,000 a year to a women's

swimmer and a men's track athlete.

That's despite the fact that those scholarships lose money.

Those scholarship athletes in their sport, they lose money.
