Summary

In this Best Of episode, we revisit our July 2025 conversation with an old friend from Al’s SNL days, comedian Kevin Nealon! Kevin and Al trade stories from working together on Saturday Night Live and discuss how the show has changed over the years.

Kevin shares how he created several trademark bits, including Mr. Subliminal and Hans and Franz. Plus, we get backstories on some sketches that Al and Kevin worked on together.

We also get into Kevin's post-SNL life, including his role on the hit TV show “Weeds,” his standup, and his hiking podcast!

That's as thrilled as you get. It doesn't look thrilled at all. Oh, you're right. It's almost like you're waiting for a bus. You know, I'm so thrilled that this bus is coming. You've got to have a smile at least. Have you ever been thrilled before? Be honest with me. Have I ever been thrilled? Yes. When was the last time you were thrilled? Well, that's not your business. No, I was going to say that when I came in. Okay, I'm thrilled to have you. I believe that now. Yeah, yeah. And Kevin, one of the funniest cast members we ever had on S&L during the whole 50 years. Can you believe that? Oh, man. But, you know, for me, it was over 30 years ago I was on that show. Isn't that crazy? Yeah, and I left, the same for me, because that's when I left it. And you were there for a long time. I did 15, 15 seasons. You did 15.
