Well, as 2019 winds down and we get closer and closer to 2020, which blows my mind.

We have to now start looking back at the last decade that was, and it's been a pretty great

decade, Ben Raby.

This was really your idea and your baby to look at this decade and kind of relive the highs and

lows, but there weren't that many lows, some playoff losses, but for the capitals, sustained

success has really been the story of this decade. Best decade in franchise history, bar none,

seven division titles, three president's trophy wins, three outdoor games,

milestones galore. Oh, yeah, there was also that 2018 Stanley Cup run as well, a little of everything,

a whole lot of good. No team had more points, no team scored more goals. They began the decade as

the greatest show on ice, and they end the decade again in a familiar perch midway through the 1920 season atop the NHL's overall standing. It's been a great 10 years and looking forward to looking back. We'll hear some calls, Joe Beninati, Craig Lachlan, John Walton, Steve Colby over the years, various of our colleagues weighing in as well. We'll hear from throughout the show.

Should be fun.

Yeah, and Brian McNally, it's funny when you're in the day-to-day and you're covering the team and you're worried about the minutia and what's wrong with the third line and why isn't the power play clicking and all the different things that make up the day-to-day, sometimes it's nice like this to take a step back and say, man, like he just rattled off.

That's a lot of success. That's a lot of winning. And when you're in it that much every day, sometimes you forget just how good this organization has been. That's so true, Rob. Like if you think back, because I think with the caps so long, we associated everything with pain,

sadness, agony, terrible, DC curse, terrible playoff losses. And it did, I think, for a long time. And it's the ultimate redemption story of the cup is that it suddenly made the entire

decade, like, it's all worth it. And it's all for fans, it has to be all a thing that they can now look back on and enjoy.

It validated it.

It validated it, definitely.

And it validated Ovechkin and Baxter and the entire thing, the entire project that really dates back to even before the decade when George McPhee and Ted Leonesis and Dick Patrick started this whole thing with their tear down.

That was so painful for so many fans to watch guys like Bondra and eventually Colzig go out.

And they built this sustaining freight train that's gone on now for well over a decade.

But these 10 years in particular have been so memorable that I think

any fan would be, will be thankful that they were part of it and took part in the journey
