Back your bags, y'all, because summer travel is in full swing and by all accounts, it

is booming this year.

Vacations that were delayed by the pandemic, and then delayed again, are finally happening.

Maybe you've seen the surge yourself while waiting in airport lines, or surrounded by

a crush of people at major tourist spots, or you felt the hit to your wallet when making

those hotel reservations.

Visions are flocking to Europe this summer, and the price of hotels there has jumped, according

to the travel agency Hopper.

The average price of a European hotel is up 37% from last year, Hopper reports.

And in some of the most popular cities like Rome, that jump is up to 63%.

So does all that, the hassle, the expense, point to Americans staying closer to home next

year?
