Summary

Part One of our 1001 Heroes deep dive history covers the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany on September 1, 1939, is widely considered the start of World War II in Europe. Germany, using a strategy of Blitzkrieg, quickly overwhelmed the Polish army and occupied much of the country. The Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east on September 17, further dividing and occupying the country.

Part Two covers the Soviet war crimes known as 'The Katyn Forest Massacre
