Hey everyone, welcome back to the podcast and to part two of the best of Power Hour 2021. We're going to take a listen back to some of the previous conversations, the guests sharing their wisdom and insight and motivation. Honestly, as the host of this show, I get to learn so much. I feel so lucky and I absolutely love it.

So thank you so much for listening each week and for supporting this podcast. All right,

0:28.5

let's kick off part two with the one and only Monica Jones.

0:43.0

As someone who works incredibly hard, not just in the boxing ring, but in life, I would really love to talk to you about work ethic and actually, as I said, this applies across,

0:49.2

you know, business, exercise, all these things. And let's be honest, again, and talk about things that are hard I often say

0:56.5

one of my like kind of mantras is you can do hard things and the reason I say that is because instead

1:01.8

of waiting for something to become easy or instead of thinking oh Adrian if I do this how many

1:06.8

times do I have to practice this until it's effortless or until it's easy. And I actually say some

1:11.6

things I think will always be hard. And so instead of waiting for them to become easier,

1:16.6

oh, you're just going to magically, you know, for example, if you're, if you find public speaking

1:20.4

difficult, like, oh, one day you're just not going to anymore. Maybe it's always going to be hard, but you can do hard things anyway. So often when I hear you

1:29.1

talk about, you know, putting the work in and working hard, you're not giving people like, oh,

1:34.0

make it easier by doing this or actually here's a hack or a shortcut. So why is the mindset of

1:40.1

working hard? Why is that so important to you? It's the integrity of the process that creates the

1:49.0

greatest outcome for us. I feel as if, you know, understanding that if I put in the best practice,

1:55.8

then the outcome is going to be beautiful. And I don't need for it to get easier. If it were

2:00.4

easier, then the outcome would fall short of what I truly, truly want.

2:05.1

And, you know, I usually tell people, like, I'm a huge fan of doing, you know, single limb and unilateral work

2:12.6

because we have to make sure that our body is going to be pretty proportionate and pretty equal in

2:20.3

strength on both sides. And there is always going to be something to correct on one side versus

2:25.6

the other. So I'm telling people, you know, do a single leg bicep curl and maybe see them leaning back.

2:31.6

And this is in previous years because I'm mostly coaching groups now.
