What is it all about?

It's just such an incredible leap forward in terms of scalability,

that it's going to allow computers to do things that we wouldn't have allowed ourselves to think that computers could do before. Hello and welcome to Danny in the Valley, your weekly dispatch from behind the scenes and inside the minds of the top people in tech this week.

And the lesson?

Quantum computing.

Now, I hear you asking, what is quantum computing?

I don't know.

Or at least I didn't know, because I've got to say, for all the years I've been out here,

this subject, this kind of term, quantum computing, inevitably bubbles up, usually accompanied

by some breathless predictions about how it's going to change the world in ways we cannot

even imagine. What it represents is effectively a completely different kind of computing paradigm

that just is another universe in terms of the ability

to process information, solve problems, unlock puzzles of everything from biology to, I mean,

pick your very difficult problem. You can aim quantum computing at it, and theoretically,

it can do some pretty incredible things which will mean

a lot for us humans all that said how it works how far away it is the challenges the actual

potential all of it was to me a mystery and kind of had remained so now you may recall that

some months back we had on david cowen from Bessemer Venture Partners,

and we talked about space.
