editor-in-chief of Strategic Europe for the Carnegie Endowment for International

Peace in Berlin.

I've missed Judy's point of view these last weeks because of major changes in battle fronts and in politics from the US point of view.

Europe, however, our partner in trade and our partner in right now war in the Ukraine is an important piece of the puzzle.

Over these next months we'll hear much from Europe about the presidential contest

here and about the way that Biden administration is handling its last months in office.

However, I begin with a grace note, the Olympics.

Judy, a very good evening to you.

Thank you from the American point of view, we consumed the Olympics something on a delay because of the

six hours to Paris.

But what I saw of it on video afterwards was that the French really thought about this and they enjoyed themselves.

Even the question of the send being safe to swim in was part of the lore of Paris and has been for centuries.

I understand this. There were no bodies in the

send. There was just the concern of E. coli, which turned out to be a false

alarm one day. The ending, though, with Tom Cruise on a motorcycle and carrying a

flag spectacular. How was Paris consumed in Germany and throughout the EU? Was it

celebrated or was it regarded as typical French
