It's Friday, October 10th.

Yesterday, about an hour after sunset, I left my hotel to get something to eat.

The streets and sidewalks were crowded as usual. This neighborhood, Humra, has a lot of restaurants and shops that

stay open late. People go out to socialize and have a good time. So I was walking around and I noticed I was getting a lot of angry

looks mainly for men which was strange because up till now it seemed like people

ignored me or accepted my presence as normal and

pretty much everybody I've approached has treated me with kindness and respect.

So I thought, whoa, maybe something's changed. I bought some food at a market, went back to my room, and turned on the news, and saw the two apartment buildings in the center of Beirut have been bombed.

Black smoke rising into the night sky, only two or three miles from here. Israel is saying the target was a high-ranking Hezbollah official, but he survived.

22 people were killed, 120 injured, no doubt, many of them children.
