0:00.0 | Hello, hi and welcome to another episode of the Emma Gunn Show in the episode that we shall refer to henceforth as the one where Emma is standing up. |
0:17.5 | Why am I standing up? This is only relevant if you're watching on YouTube or if you're |
0:20.9 | watching the video on Substack. But it is 32 degrees here. We are in the middle of a heat wave. I normally |
0:27.1 | sit on my lovely office chair, which is made of leather, not happening today. I am also wearing what is |
0:33.1 | essentially a nighty, because it's quite a nice nighty, Massimo duty, 90, thank you very, thank you very much. |
0:40.7 | But if I sit in it, this lovely crisp white cotton is going to, well, I'd say go see through, |
0:46.6 | but I'm worried it might actually disintegrate such as the heat that is emanating from me today. |
0:52.1 | It is a very, very hot day. |
0:53.8 | You may be able to hear the were of the fan |
0:55.9 | as well, but without it, I would simply expire. Anyway, what are we going to talk about this week? |
1:02.4 | Let's talk about, we are sort of, you may have noticed that with the weight loss slash challenge, |
1:10.4 | slash effort, slash whatever, as I said to you |
1:14.3 | last week, I kind of did something silly because I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago. And the truth |
1:24.2 | of the matter is I feel completely different. When pre-joining the gym, I could feel that I was getting smaller. I could feel that I was getting leaner. I enjoyed how that felt. It felt like all of the, it felt like the cumulative effect of all of that effort of prioritizing protein, of really |
1:45.3 | cutting down on fat, of being really mindful of my carbohydrate intake, of being mindful of my fiber |
1:50.2 | intake. It felt like suddenly I got to this point where, oh, actually, I feel a little bit |
1:54.4 | smaller. I can see that my legs are changing. I can feel all of these things. And it felt |
1:59.4 | appropriate because we were nearly three months into it. So it was like, good, good. I want to all of these things. And it felt appropriate because we were nearly three |
2:01.2 | months into it. So it was like, good, good. I want to be able to see and feel that it wasn't just about |
2:06.3 | scale weight. When I joined the gym, something happened and it's sort of, it's wrong-footed me a little bit, |
2:14.1 | but at the same time it hasn't because common sense prevails, but at the same |
2:17.9 | time there's also a huge emotional aspect to this. And it's also a little bit of a learning curve |
